Welcome back Clemson FCA! We are so happy to have everyone back from Christmas break and excited for what this semester will hold. Last Thursday we had a great start to the Spring Semester with Matt Williams from Grace Church. Matt preached on Romans 8.
Romans 8: 18-25
“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”
On this earth there is incredible groaning but also God’s incredible work is happening. The suffering and groaning that you experience is here to make you to want the new world. The pain and suffering of this world is designed to keep you from getting attached and to look forward to the next world that is more glorious than we could ever imagine.
This world is not your home, this world is designed to get us ready for the next world. There is no ultimate future here for you. This is a place that you want to hold onto loosely.
If you put your faith and trust in Jesus, He will give you a new home, new life, new passions and so much more.
